Many commuting
students become frustrated with the parking facilities provided for
them. What many commuters don't understand is that they may use more
parking lots than the two popular commuter lots, lot 22 between
Washington Street and the railroad tracks, and lot 33 along East
Campus Drive near Moore Hall and the Music Building. Commuters may
use any of the following lots on campus:
-
Lot 8 which
is near the Alumni House.
-
Lot 14
which is near Rowe Hall and Special Olympics.
-
Lot 18
which is on the south side of Finch Field House.
-
Lot 19
which is near Rowe Hall.
-
Lot 20
which is north of Health Professions.
-
Lot 22
which is between Washington Street and the railroad tracks near
Pearce and Anspach Halls.
-
Lot 27
which is on Preston Street near Park Library.
-
Lot 28
which is on Preston Street near Health Services in Foust Hall.
-
Lots 33N &
33S which are on East Campus Drive near Moore Hall and the Music
Building.
-
Lot 43
which is between Washington Street and the railroad tracks south
of lot 22.
-
Lot 47 in
designated spaces which off Broomfield in front of Celani Hall.
-
Lot 51
which is off East Campus Drive near the Combined Services
Building.
-
Lot 62W and
62E which are near Rose Center, University Recreation (SAC), and
the Indoor Athletic Complex.
-
Lot 63
which is on the south side of the stadium.
-
Lot 64
which is on the west side of the stadium.
As a student that commutes to class at CMU, stop and think about how
you can best spend your time. Instead of
waiting in your "favorite" lot for 20-30 minutes, then "fighting"
for the next available parking space, go directly to lots 63 or 64
near the stadium, park, and walk a short distance to your classroom
building. This often takes less of your valuable time than if you
had waited to find the perfect parking space in the popular commuter
lots. Trade in that frustrating "white knuckled" battle for the
prime parking space, for a relaxing walk to class. In lots 63 & 64
there are no long waiting lines at the ends of the rows for the next
available space and no congested traffic when you are entering or
leaving the lot. With the benefits of exercise that walking
provides, you may be able to shorten your workout time at the SAC
and relieve a little stress at the same time.
