The CMU Police Department has many GSA and work study job
opportunities for students. The duties range from police
dispatching and parking enforcement to directing traffic at
football games. Below are the job descriptions for all the
student employment opportunities at the CMU Police Department.
Student Service Officer (SSO)
General Student Assistance or College Work Study. Not open to first semester freshman or any student with less then two semesters left at CMU. Normally 20 hours per week. Weekend, day, evening and night hours. Police dispatching, parking enforcement, traffic control and other duties as assigned.
Parking Enforcement Officer (PEO)
General Student Assistance or College Work Study. Up to 20 hours per week. Day, evening and weekend hours. Issuing parking citations on campus, working traffic control at special events, and other duties as assigned.
Building Security Officer (BSO)
General Student Assistance or College Work Study. Up to 20 hours per week. Weekly evening and weekend day and evening hours. Monitors the use of various buildings on campus and may lock and unlock doors for authorized use of the facility.
Night Rides Escort Officer (NRE)
General Student Assistance or College Work Study. Up to 20 hours per week. Weekly evening hours. Good driving record mandatory. Drives a department vehicle giving rides to people
from one on campus location to another. Acts as extra eyes and ears on campus for the CMU Police Department.
Office Assistant
College Work Study preferred, 20 hours per week, daytime hours. Filing, data entry,
mail distribution, sorting and organizing office records, and other miscellaneous tasks.
