Are you planning a special event on campus?
If so, maybe we can help you. In the past we have experienced some difficulty with vehicle parking and crowd control at certain special events where prior notification was not made to our department.
Therefore, if you are planning a special event such as a conference, concert, dance or sporting event, please contact the Special Events Coordinator at the CMU Police Department at (989) 774-3081 or e-mail

as early as possible prior to the event. This communication will help your visitors have a pleasant experience while on the Central Michigan University campus.
Because of the nature of police work, the Special Events Coordinator is often out of the office. It may be more convenient to e-mail your parking request to him. If you do, please supply the following information:
Who will be attending the event?
Are they CMU students, faculty, staff members, or visitors?
What is the date or dates of the event?
What time will the event start each day?
Where is the event being held on campus (building and room number)?
What should we title the event in our schedule?
Please use the name a member the general public would use when inquiring about the event.
How many people will be attending?
Also, how many cars do you anticipate will be bringing those people to campus?
What is your name, title, and what organization do you represent?
What is your phone number and fax number with area code, and your e-mail address if different from the address from which your original message will be sent?
Include any information about specific needs for your conference or event.
Please contact the Special Events Coordinator several weeks prior to your event. Parking arrangements for your event will be e-mailed back to you normally within one week. If you will require directions to campus or parking permits, this information will be faxed or mailed to you in a timely manner. Please help us make your visit to our campus as enjoyable as possible by providing the CMU Police Department with the information requested above. A little preplanning for your conference can help avoid the inconvenience and cost of receiving a parking ticket while visiting CMU.
